Abstract

Shallots are one of the vegetable commodities that have high economic value and have a function for spice vegetables and traditional medicine, because they contain the amino acid Alliin which functions as an antibiotic. This study aims to determine the response of organic fertilizers to the growth and production of two shallot varieties. Research using the RAL method which is arranged by factorial experiments. The first factor, Type of Organic Fertilizer (Without Fertilizer, Cow Manure and Paitan) and the second factor, Shallot Varieties (Batu Ijo and the Philippines), obtained 6 treatment combinations then repeated four times. The results showed that (1) the treatment of organic fertilizers and varieties showed no interaction between all parameters of plant height per clump, number of leaves per clump, number of tubers per clump, wet weight of tubers per clump and dry weight of tubers per hill on growth and production of onions. red at the age of 20, 40, 60 and 70 HST; (2) Treatment of cow dung organic fertilizer gives the best results on all parameters of plant height per clump, number of leaves per clump, wet weight of tubers per clump, dry weight of tubers per clump and number of tubers per clump compared to paitan and without using organic fertilizers
