KETERGANTUNGAN PETANI SAWI HIJAU (Brassica chinensis var. Parachinensis) PADA TENGKULAK DI DESA BANJAREJO, KECAMATAN PAKIS, KABUPATEN MALANG

Abstract

Even though middlemen were viewed negatively in society, existence of middlemen in farm business of the mustard greens at Desa Banjarejo Kecamatan Pakis Kabupaten Malang was very important.  The important roles of middleman were as a buyer of mustard greens crops and as a capital creditor of mustard greens farmers.  The aim of this study is to know the dependency of the mustard greens farmers to the middlemen at Desa Banjarejo.  Qualitative approach was used in this study and the data was analyzed by the descriptive methods.  Data obtained through primary data in the form of in depth interviews and observations.  The results of this study showed that farmers at Desa Balerejo faced some resistance, like lack of  social economic networking and lack of information about the market.  Besides that, the farmer also faced lack of personal capital, lack of infrastructure and transportations to sell and to distribute their mustard crop.  The farmers need middlemen to lend capital and to buy their crops as well as the middlemen need farmers to achieve profits from his loan and to sell of his mustard greens crops.  This  relationship continues to be more personal and intense so that there are efforts in maintaining
