Abstract

This simple study aims to determine the response of various types of planting media derived from agricultural waste in the hydroponic-NFT cultivation system in the early growth phase of mustard greens. The research method uses a simple RAK consisting of 6 treatments. Each treatment was repeated 4 times, so that there were a total of 24 observation units, and each observation unit was repeated 3 times. The types of planting media consist of 5 types, namely M1 = media made from apple waste; M2 = media made from moringa waste; M3 = media made from banana waste; M4 = media made from coconut waste; M5 = media made from pineapple waste; and M6 = control using standard AB mix hydroponic growing media. The results of the research observations were: 1) The type of waste media had good results for the variables of plant height, number of leaves, absolute growth rate of plant height and number of leaves respectively, namely banana media (M3), pineapple media (M5), moringa media (M2) and control media (M6), 2) Treatment of coconut media (M4) and apple media (M1) has not been able to influence plant height, number of leaves and absolute growth rate of plant height and number of leaves because they are still under control treatment (M6), and 3 ) Moringa media (M2) and banana waste media (M3) had almost the same results for all variables with control media (M6) containing standard organic fertilizer (AB mix).
